memories printed on paper

that's me with my Babi
My mum and I sifted through an old family album she has. It's filled with so many photos I had never seen before. I was completely captivated by it. As my eyes looked at what was in front of me I felt the urge to want to turn the page quickly so I could see what was on the other side.

We couldn't believe some of the images we came across. Some photos taken over 70 years ago, there, printed and sitting in front of us. It was just amazing.

When we turned to the next page of this fragile album there she was - my Babi (my grandma). Young, beautiful & a way I had obviously never seen her before. She recently passed away so it beautiful to see these images of her - happy, smiling & the way I remember her.

Then, more photos. Ones of both my parents when they were young and then some of me & my sister when we were young. All photos I had never seen before.

It's amazing how one photo, let alone an entire album of photos, can make you feel. Photos are just so important - they last a lifetime and maybe even more. I asked my mum if she remembered any of the moments she was photographed in and she shook her head. It's unfortunate all of our memories don't stay with us... that's why we need our memories printed on paper.

I have a goal for myself. I aim to (with the help of my husband) fit three long shelves in my living room. I want to fill them with frames full of photos, full of memories so I can revisit them everyday....

my mother on the far left, then my Babi in the next two photos

family photo on the top and the one on the bottom - funniest photo I've seen in a long time! I'm the little one with the weird outfit on...
