pieces of autumn

For most of today I was stuck inside. The rain and cold air deterred me from going outside... but, for what felt like a second, the sun came out.

I rushed outside, with my camera in my hand and shot what a saw.

Even though I am not be the biggest fan of the freezing, cold weather, I do love the way rain leaves its mark on the world...

hello Jackson

I must admit, I haven't photographed a lot of newborns. There's only been a handful, and that handful have been really close friends of mine.

Newborn babies are so fragile and unique, every little one is different. From the way they crinkle their nose, to the way they squeak, to that moment they lock that dreamy gaze straight into your eyes. Each baby has its own personality.

Well, on this day I met a handsome young man. He delicately slept in his white bassinet as we arrived. He was as quiet as a mouse. Once it was time to get up, his tiny brain swung into motion - he stretched his arms as Mum unwrapped him from his cocoon. He slowly opened one eye and then the next, and it looked like he smiled. He was happy.

As this beautiful little man lay snug on the bed, he turned his face toward the window. The light bounced straight onto his eyes and lit them up. He was awake, and ready to go!

I curiously gazed at Sarah as she carefully changed him, fed him and cuddled him. I could see this new mum is  a natural - she seemed so content.

We spent almost two hours with Sarah, Jase and their new little man... By the end all he could do was close his eyes, fall asleep and be beautiful.

Hello Jackson . . .
