At one of our most recent weddings, I had a special assistant - my sister! Ben, who is my usual helper was unavailable, so Tracy stepped in! And didn't she do a brilliant job : )

We stocked up on our snacks (lots of lollies!), and water, went over all the details for the day and headed to Phillip Island. The day went so quickly because we had so much fun with Alisha, Simon and their friends. We certainly had a lot of giggles - my tummy was quite sore by the end of the day.

 I asked Tracy to write a short story about her experience, and here it is . . .

I was only too happy to help my sister out at a wedding recently.  I know how heavy the camera case is and I can imagine it is worth its weight in gold when you’re 31 weeks pregnant, so I was honoured to help lighten the load for the day.

How hard could it be?  I thought.  Carry what I’m asked to carry, stand where I’m asked to stand, shoot where I am asked to shoot.  What I learnt was anyone can take a photo, but it takes patience, timing and a certain amount of telepathy to capture a memory.

Christina placed me perfectly in the corner and even locked the settings in on the camera.  All I had to do was pull the trigger.  But what she does that I can’t is wait - wait patiently for that twinkle in the eye, curl of the lip or belly laugh.  Timing is everything and her ability to predict what would happen next provided for some unbelievable images that were missed by the naked eye.

Call it sibling rivalry but I did manage to do a few things Christina could not.  I lost the camera cap (and found it) three times and I hit myself in the head with the camera which made for a memorable moment for those on Table 10.

I am going to stick to my day job, but I know why my sister does it now.  The euphoria of witnessing a couple take their vows is addictive, not to mention the adrenalin rush when you’re racing around the dance floor....weddings are happy places.

Laura & Brian | Ocean love

I could hear the excitement in Laura's voice when I first spoke to her earlier in the year. She told me about her plans for her wedding & I got a little excited too! An intimate ceremony to be held on top of a lookout in Ocean Grove. I could see it in my head, but let me tell you, it looked a thousand times better in real life. 

When I met Laura (on her wedding day) I could finally see the excitement I once felt. Her face was glowing, her smile was beaming & her cheeky little laughter made me laugh along with her.

Brian & the boys began their day at Four Points by Sheraton in Geelong. Brian was slighty nervous when we met him, but he quickly warmed to us. He told us how much he and Laura loved Geelong & The Bellarine Peninsula and that the girls were getting ready in their holiday house - a home which was built by his father fifty years ago. 

We made our way to this holiday house... and when we arrived I could hear voices and soft sounds of laughter coming through the flyscreen on the front door. We stepped inside & met Laura and her family, some of whom had made the big trip from Malaysia. Immediately we felt welcomed. 

After the ceremony, a traditional Malaysian tea ceremony was held. Tea was given to the bride and groom and in return, Laura and Brian passed on a little red package - it was filled with money.

We then took advantage of the beauitiful surroundings and drove to Barwon Heads and then back to Geelong for some location shots. Laura & Brian made our job so very easy & we certainly had heaps of fun with them.
