Amy's emotional dad was so proud of his daughter - you could see it in his eyes and the way he tried to hide his tears. When I asked the two of them for a photo he could hardly smile, not because he was sad, but because he couldn't believe that this beautiful bride was his daughter - his youngest daughter who was finally getting married this day.
I met Matt the day of the wedding, right before the ceremony. He greeted me with a massive smile and a happy "G'day"! We got some casual photos of the boys getting ready and then I met Matt's parents. They were so very welcoming & also proud of their youngest son...
It was quite an emotional day for everyone. As you can imagine, tears was held back in fear makeup would run, tissues were held on to, like the way you hold onto a hot cuppa on a cold day. Past the tears there were smiles and laughs you could hear from a mile away. The sun shone brightly & the heat was intense - one of the vintage cars actually overheated, but luckily that was after Amy arrived at the church.
After the ceremony we wandered to the Morwell Rose Gardens - a place close to Amy's heart. This is where her Mum & Dad got married quite a few years back. On our way to the reception we found an old blue brick wall - Amy & Matt were happy to stop and thankfully the wall provided some well needed shade!
The speeches at the reception were probably one of the funniest and heartfelt speeches I've photographed. I'm thankful I got to hide behind my camera! It's hard not to feel the emotion and become attached to these people you are photographing - I get goosebumps everytime I shoot speeches. You learn so much more about the couple you're photographing, you feel as though you're closer, and by the end of the night I always want to give the couple of big hug and thank them for allowing me to be apart of their special day. So thank you Amy & Matt!!
